Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is a government initiative that provides schools with additional funding (about £1,385 per year for six years) for every child who has been able to prove they qualify for it. The funding is targeted at pupils who are from households where families are claiming or could claim FREE School Meals, families who have a parent in the armed forces or children who have been adopted or are in care.
The school is responsible for making sure that the money for that child is being spent to improve their education. Our schools have used this in lots of ways in the past couple of years to help the learning of all the children who receive this funding.
What are the benefits of claiming Pupil Premium?
We use the Pupil Premium within each academy to enhance opportunities for the children. We use
the funding in a range of ways including; subsidising trips and paying for additional resources to widen experiences such as First Access Music, or offer pastoral support for children for pupils’ well-being.
Ask your school for more information.
Who is eligible for Pupil Premium Grant
Every parent/carer who is able to show that their child is eligible, either by showing us your child has been adopted, proving a member of your family is in the armed forces or by filling out a FREE School
Meals application (we can help you do this if needed), will bring £8,310 into school over six years and will be used to benefit their child’s learning.
This is really important funding which can be claimed for any child in school.
If you are not sure whether your child is eligible for FREE School Meals or would like more information
about how you should go about claiming an entitlement, please contact the school or alternatively you can apply online.
