MLT appoint new principal for Maltby Manor Academy
Maltby Manor Academy, part of Maltby Learning Trust, has appointed a new principal.
Kate Atkin brings more than 20 years of teaching experience to the role,
having taught in both Scarborough and Doncaster, where she progressed from classroom teacher to deputy head at Bawtry Mayflower, before becoming headteacher at Mallard Primary in Balby.
Kate, said: “I’m excited to have joined Maltby Manor Academy as principal and to have the opportunity to get to know all of the children there. Learning their names will be my first big job!
“I was attracted to the post because of the feel of the school – the children are put at the heart of every decision made, and everyone is passionate about getting it right for them so that each child can achieve their very best.
“The community was also another big factor as it was warm and welcoming and believed in the children.
“I was looking for a Trust that prioritises the well-being and growth of schools while keeping the needs of children at the centre of their decision-making. Maltby Learning Trust's commitment to high standards and belief in the potential of every child played a crucial role in my decision to work with them.
"My goal is to work closely with the fantastic staff to ensure that the school offers the best possible experience for the students. I want them to feel fully equipped to make the transition to secondary school with a love of learning and confidence in who they are."
David Horrigan, executive director of primary education at Maltby Learning Trust, said: “On behalf of everyone at Maltby Learning Trust, we’re thrilled to welcome Kate to the team as principal of Maltby Manor Academy.
“Kate’s extensive experience combined with her clear passion for helping children to thrive in school makes her perfect for the role, and we’re looking forward to seeing her contribute to the success of both Maltby Manor and the wider Maltby Learning Trust, too.”
